what do you do?

I almost forgot one funny thing. As I was leaving last night, one of the Care Staff asked me what line of work I was in. I launched into the always convoluted explanation of what it is exactly that a Management Consultant does.

She stopped me by saying: "Oh your Mum told us that she thought you were a Butler."

What? WHAT? Where on EARTH did THAT come from?

Mum never ceases to surprise me.

Maybe she thought you're Gerald Butler now. ;P

I can't imagine what my mom told people I did. At some points, she thought I was a police officer (yes, all 5 feet of me).

At one point, mom was convinced that she "worked" at her care facility. When I'd visit, she'd look around cautiously and say that she deserved to take a break since she'd been working so hard today but was worried her "supervisors" would catch her slacking off having tea with me.

Oh that made me laugh!

There's actually a guy living in Mum's household who thinks he is the owner of the whole place. After nearly a year there, Mum has started introducing him to me as the owner, so it seems he hasn't been persuaded out of it.

I think his Sister must have said something like "This is your home now" when placing him there....
