there's talking and there's listening

“Sorry I didn’t get to see you this weekend, but I was very tired and I figured that you’d already had some visitors this week.”
“That’s okay, Dear. So, do you think you’ll be able to come and see me in a few days?”
“No. Sorry. It’s Sunday now, so I’ve got a week’s work ahead of me before I could visit.”

[pause]

“Okay… Right, I’d better go and… I’m just thinking I should go and ask to have a … to use the pool* tonight so that I’m clean before you arrive.”

Cleanliness is next to godliness but listening is perhaps a few more stops down the line!! That's so sweet. Good for Mum, being so keen to get her dip in the pool to be ready...

Yes, last time I visited she was scrubbed, coifed and wearing an outfit that would grace a wedding. And she announced me to her flatmates as if I was some ambassador or dignitary. It's nice that she wants to make an effort, but I think I'll keep warning the staff when I'm coming rather than relying on Mum's judgement.

Thanks for commenting. I was actually just about to remove that post as 'not up to snuff', but if it merits a comment it's staying!

Now now, your Mum was just trying to be ready and impress the most important person in her life, you gotta give her some credit for that.

Tell her to do a cannon ball next time. :D

This is very sweet, in a difficult way. I don't know, Greg. I imagine almost everything is a mixed bag? Hard to tell from just blogging and stuff, but it seems like you're doing well. I hope so!
